About Pipili Chandua:

Pipili is a small town near Bhubaneswar, mainly famous for its applique or handicraft. This small area’s income primarily depends on the handicraft business; otherwise, a day’s Pipili is the central hub for handicraft designers.
 
The village Pipili is famous for its handicraft work, called applique work. The Pipili handicraft work originates from Lord Jagannath’s culture during the 12th century. Earlier, applique umbrellas and canopies were prepared by Gajapati for the Jagannath Rathayatra.
 
Now a day’s, Pipili Chandua is used in household decorative, festival products, and wall designing. You can see the Pipili Chandua work at the time of Rathayatra. The colorful applique cloth covers the three chariots, the waterproof and best handmade thing you will see at the Chariot festival (Rathayatra).
 
The design of this handicraft includes waterproof material, cotton, thread, and silk material. Pipili Chandua has entered the 2004 Limca Book of Records for its most considerable applique work. Having 54 Meters (177 feet), the extended position is filled with images of India’s struggle for Independence.
